Outreach/ Fellowship Team
In support of the church’s mission, this committee will strive to welcome newcomers, build connections within our church and community, and share Christ’s love through meaningful relationships. We will seek opportunities to serve others, foster fellowship, and help people see Jesus through our actions.
Our team coordinates events such as the 5th Sunday Brunch, community outreach events featuring local nonprofit organizations including fun family activities, veteran's events, and church wide garage sales. We helped to host the 75th Anniversary Celebration for our church in Feb. of 2026.
We meet every other month in the Conference Room.

Women’s Exercise
Chairperson ~ Judy LeMaire
Led by Judy LeMaire, an AFAA and NASM-certified instructor with over 11 years of experience, our Exercise Class welcomes women of all ages and fitness levels. Each class includes a variety of activities such as cardio, strength training, Pilates, yoga, step aerobics, and light weights. Every exercise can be modified, making it easy for beginners and experienced participants alike to join in. On the fourth Wednesday of each month, we offer a special Breathe, Balance & Stretch class.
More than just a workout, this class is a fun and encouraging place to improve strength, balance, flexibility, and overall well-being while building friendships. Join us every Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. and enjoy moving your body in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
Worship Team
Chairperson ~ _________
The Worship Team's primary role is to facilitate worship that centers on God through music, liturgy, and other arts - so people can grow in their understanding of the gospel and deepen their relationship with Christ. We plan worship that is appropriate to the congregation's gifts, needs and traditions, while being open to a variety of styles.
We would love to hear from you about our worship service. We are always looking for suggestions on ways to improve our current worship service or ideas for special worship services.
There are many opportunities, both small and large, to help the Worship team such as setting up or taking down Communion, serving as a lay reader, reading for special services, etc. If you are interested in helping out in one or our small roles, please contact the church office.
Church Volleyball

Threads of Comfort Ministry
Chairperson ~ Ginger McInnis
Mission Statement: To create and freely give handmade garments out of thread or yarn to those in need of love, hope, comfort, healing, and strength. Each crafter should regard the process as a spiritual time blending prayers, talents, gifts, and grace. Our purpose is to help spread God’s mercy, love, and compassion through this ministry.
We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 6:00pm for our Night Gathering and the 4th Thursday of the month at 10am for our Day Gathering. We make knitted or crocheted garments such as shawls, blankets, and hats to give away to those who need comfort. We have some ladies that like to attend our gatherings and some that just like to donate items they make at home. We welcome anyone in the community who would like to join us from other denominations.
Discipleship Team
Chairperson ~ Brenda Carlson
The Discipleship Team exists to help our church family live out the mission of First United Methodist Church of Gonzales: transforming lives to love like Jesus. We are passionate about creating opportunities for people of all ages to grow in their faith, deepen their relationship with Christ, and build meaningful connections within the church.
Through Bible studies, spiritual growth opportunities, and ministry development, we seek to equip and encourage individuals as they take the next step in their faith journey. Our desire is to cultivate a welcoming environment where everyone is invited, inspired, and empowered to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.
Food Pantry
Chairperson ~ Connie Francis
Our Food Pantry is open every Monday and Thursday from 12:00–1:00 p.m. to serve individuals and families in our community. We provide food assistance in a welcoming and caring environment, with each household receiving a box of pantry staples, including canned goods, pasta, rice, beans, bread, and other essential food items. Depending on availability, fresh produce from local gardens and additional items from our "lagniappe" table are also offered.
In addition to food, we prepare hygiene bags for those experiencing homelessness and others in need. There are no income requirements to receive assistance, and the amount of food provided is based on the size of each household. Our mission is to share God's love by meeting practical needs with compassion, dignity, and grace.
Armed Forces Committee
Chairperson ~ Connie Francis
The Veterans Ministry is dedicated to honoring and recognizing the men and women of our congregation who have faithfully served our country. While the team meets as needed throughout the year, they work together to plan meaningful opportunities to celebrate and remember our veterans.
Each November, the ministry hosts a Veterans & Thanksgiving Luncheon to recognize and thank those who have served. On Memorial Day, the church also displays a Missing Soldier Table as a tribute to the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation.
